Respecting Personal Progress

Effort and hard work can sometimes be extremely difficult to recognize or see, especially if we only measure or judge a person by their actions or visible appearance. We never truly know how a person views themselves or what goes on in their mind on a moment to moment basis. People often say that they are going to change but never seem to actualize or prove it. That does not mean that they have not tried to enhance their lifestyle or that they are not hurting or struggling internally. Evolving our thought process and behavioural patterns requires a great deal of inner work and difficult problem solving. Our minds are so intricate and complex that it takes time and patience to understand and control it. Just because we do not appear to be transforming does not mean that we have not made significant progress. We must be sensitive and considerate towards those who are on a conscious journey into the multi-dimensional landscape of personal redemption and self care. Great internal changes or shifts take time to manifest or surface. We empathize with others more deeply when we realize how much of a mental challenge it is to restore our physical health. Some people may be able to start or stop a good or bad habit with ease while others may require more research, self-reflection, time, and willpower. We are all unique and heal at different rates and in different phases. Rather than comparing our rehabilitation and recovery to the failures or success stories of others, we should understand that we will all fail and succeed in our own ways. It may not appear as though someone is putting in the right amount of effort or doing the right things but it is where they are with themselves on the inside that truly matters.
